Is Video Blogging For You?
Video blogging has become more popular lately and has a few advantages over your standard text blog. Video blogging easily attracts the attention of readers. People may find it more interesting to watch a video over just reading a blog. I personally don’t find this appealing because I’m a big fan of reading but it’s definitely worth talking about. Because video blogs are more attention grabbing, it’s easier for someone to spread the word about your video, which will attract more visitors to your site.
Unfortunately, there are disadvantages to video blogging also. If you host only a video blog, it takes more space on a server than your standard text blog. This may cause a delay in the start of your video or even the loading of your blog page. It does take more time to upload a video than it does to show a bit of text. When you have a slow loading video, visitors can be impatient and immediately leave your site, which is what we don’t want.
Choosing a video blog over a text blog has its advantages and because of its recent popularity, you may want to consider adding text and video to your blog. If you don’t have the time to maintain a video blog, it’s easier to just stick with the basics.
