Using a Free Blogging Site
If you’re blogging for the first time, using a free blogging site is a great way to get started. Two popular free sites, Blogger and Wordpress, allow you to set up your blog with their hosting at no cost. Since they provide all the tools you need to get started, you can start blogging today and not worry about losing any of your own money. Because blogging is free and so easy to do, more and more people start a new blog everyday.
If you use Blogger to get started with your blog, you may find it easier to get listed in popular search engines like Google. The reason for this is because Google now owns Blogger and you’re surely guaranteed to get listed on their search engine. This easy, quick listing may minimize your advertising effort and help you quickly gain a large readership.
If your blog does attract a larger readership, you may want to consider getting you own hosting. This will accommodate the larger traffic to your site. Also, having your own domain will help your blog look more professional. Purchasing a hosting account for your blog is very inexpensive. My personal favorite is HostGator because of their service and low cost monthly charge.
Starting your blog on a free blogging site is a great way to build a readership before spending any of your own money. When your blog becomes more popular, take the next step and purchase your own domain and hosting. Your readers will follow you to your new address. The fact that you can get started in blogging with no money out of your own pocket is a great way to get your feet wet and gain the experience of becoming a professional blogger.

That’s a good tip to start your blog. If you expect good traffic to your site keep VPS hosting in mind. VPS will turn out economical if you are tech savvy and are willing to learn how to set it up for yourself. Of course you can hire somebody to set up VPS for you.

Great information, but then I’ll like to know the differences, advantages and disadvantages (if any) between a hosted blog like this and a website.
The biggest difference between a regular website and a blog is the traffic you can attract. Search engines love blogs because they’re updated often and they love fresh content. Websites aren’t updated as often but they still can have traffic pulling potential depending on how often you update it. This is also the advantage of having a blog site over a website.
