The 3 Qualities Unsuccessful Internet Marketers Don’t Possess
December 18, 2008 by Kylon Trower · Leave a Comment
I’m sure you are aware that there is no shortage of people rushing to get their piece of the internet pie. There are already millions of online sites and businesses in existence and now here you are amidst the masses. Because of the fierce competition, you must do everything you can to stand head and shoulders above the crowd.
Though it isn’t that easy, it is quite simple. Consistency is the name of the game. Far too many times I see marketers advertising there business and next thing you know they vanish. Staying consistent with everything you do is vital to your success.
Now with all the ways you can promote and get out there, you must understand a few basics that I’m going to outline here. I’ll give you a quick boxing analogy that may help sum it all up.
1. Knowledge is your ultimate defense mechanism. Ongoing education and knowledge building increases your overall value in your business and to your customers. This will also shield you from bad marketing and other mistakes that cost you time and money.
2. Discipline is that steady and consistent jab. Your jab is the constant motion and the focus you need to wear on your opponent. Your opponents are the other marketers (good or bad) lobbying for your potential clients. Your focus and discipline will allow you to stay the course when others get distracted, quit or go in another direction.
3. Credibility is your powerful right hook. This is where business happens in the market. Its when someone has been adequately convinced that your product or service is of value. If people don’t like or trust the vendor or anything about your company they will refrain from doing business with you. This is crucial to having success online.
Because credibility seems to be the glue that makes everything work, it is extremely important that you stand out and present yourself as a professional. Though professionalism is a must, in these times you must go the extra mile and position yourself properly.
The best way to do this is by sharing ideas, strategies and techniques with your visitors and position yourself as an expert. Anything you learn, be willing to share it and you will gain many trusting fans that will want to learn from you and purchase your goods and services.
There is way too much competition on the internet for you to expect things to come to you. If you want to succeed online you must be willing to stretch yourself and go the extra mile. People will appreciate you and look to you for leadership and direction. Once this starts to happen thats when things really start moving and shaking.
Don’t Think Competition, Think Cooperation
December 11, 2008 by William Blake · Leave a Comment
Those of us with competitive natures are always competing for everything. We even compete to be the most competitive. Our thoughts are always about ‘winning’ or ‘losing’.
There really isn’t one thing wrong with wanting to win a competition. The trick is telling the difference between a competitive event and an event where the prize is gained by cooperation rather than through competition.
You see, when you are engaging in a competition, there is always a goal or a finish line. If you are playing a game of chess, for example, the object is to ‘check-mate’, if you are playing football the object is to get more points than the over team in a limited amount of time. Internet marketing, however, does not come with a finish line. There is no time limit and the game is never over.
Internet marketing is at its optimum when it works to research, test, share and act on new ways to do internet marketing better. It works best when working within a community to better itself. Competitive attitudes get in the way and progress is much faster through cooperation.
Everybody puts their shoulder to the wheel, so to speak, and pushes in unison in order to achieve the collective goal which is to move internet marketing forward. The joint effort is better for everybody concerned because everybody benefits.
If you are a competitive person you will want to compete to supply more leads, put together more joint ventures, help more people than your competitors.
The only way competition can help cooperation is by making us reach out to help others more quickly than our competitors. This is the only way to be successful at internet marketing.
There is more than enough business out there for all of us. The supply of customers is not limited, and the benefits for one internet marketer tend to filter down and benefit all of us through cooperation.
Leading on from this is my next point. Stop blaming the Guru’s..
We have all met those people that always have an excuse for their own failures. Usually their failure was caused by someone other than themselves according to them.
When they tell their sad tales, they failed because of what somebody else did or didn’t do and the failure just simply wasn’t their own fault….they were VICTIMS. To hear them tell it they were just innocent bystanders when their business crumbled. Ha! Don’t you ever believe one word of that sad story. We all hold our own success or failure in our own hands.
When a business fails it can be for a whole multitude of reasons, none of which can be blamed on others. Several internet entrepreneurs have spoken to me and have blamed the failure of their internet businesses on whichever ‘Internet Guru’ they happened to have been listening to at the time.
According to these people, an ‘Internet Guru’ sold them products they didn’t need, flooded their email inbox with so many emails that they couldn’t get any work done and just generally led them down the wrong path and made their business fail.
The thing is that when any successful internet marketer (’guru’) offers products to his list, he isn’t forcing anyone to take up his offer. He is merely offering the product, and highlighting the benefits. Each customer makes a choice about whether to purchase the product or not.
These are merely offers of products that these successful internet marketers feel are worthy enough to be offered to their lists. The offer doesn’t mean that the product will necessarily help each and every person on those long and impressive mailing lists.
Everyone is responsible for their own success and failure. Every internet entrepreneur should know their business well enough to analyze the pros and cons of of a product as it relates to his business. The advice of guru’s is just that, advice. Ultimately you make the decision.
It isn’t an order that you must follow…it is only a suggestion. The decisions about your business are always up to you and you alone.

It is generally a fact that in online marketing, your investment is all that matters. Of course, you have invested money and effort in establishing yourself to succeed in affiliate marketing. Because of this, you are expecting to receive what is due for you.
Some points in establishing a relationship in your prospect
Always remember that first impressions last. You need to impress your potential client and promote your program in a way that he will grab it.
You can offer forums to have a dialogue with your prospects. Be courteous in answering all their queries, as much as possible in a positive tone. Remember that you are presenting the real you both on and off the web, so better make the best of it.
Do not just offer your program as a sort of “business thing”. This is why some online entrepreneurs fail to sell it. A hard sell will just make your prospects turn-off.
If you have made that good impression and an initial sale, the connection must not stop there. After a week, for instance, send him a personal note of thanks for the opportunity of conducting business with them.
Expect that the world of online marketing, there are real and fake personalities. If you have developed a real personality and established good relationship with your prospect, you will succeed in attaining their loyalty to your affiliate-marketing program.
Let affiliate marketing move for the success of your business
Affiliate marketing is the affiliation connecting website owners and merchants whereby the merchant offers the website owner a commission fee arrangement for connecting to the merchant’s site to offer goods or services for sale.
With affiliate marketing, a merchant recruits content sites to a partner with them as affiliates in exchange for rewards or commission. The merchant provides their links to their affiliates, advertising banners and assigns commission for each click-through to their sites, purchase of their products and subscription to their service that is generated form the links.
Affiliate marketing is a new and revolutionary method for driving profits through revenue sharing relationships between online merchants and content sites. Affiliate marketing pushes products and services out to the consumer on virtual shelf space across the web and creates opportunities for merchants to generate sales for the affiliates to earn revenue from the sites and for the consumers to find the products and services they want on the web.
Affiliate program is a partnership with an online merchant who compensates for any sales that is sent that trade via links on the site. It is an easy way to earn money off traffic to the site. With affiliate program, earning potential is not limited to sales; it can also refer other affiliates. The merchant will pay a percentage of all the sales that is referred.
In the cost per lead (CPL), a visitor referred by the affiliate completes a form on the merchant’s website and in the cost per one thousand impressions (CPM). Merchants pay a set rate for the display of one thousand of their banner or advertisement.
The most attractive aspect of affiliate marketing is that no payment is due to an affiliate until results are realized. But the bottom line is that affiliate marketing can really and does pay off when you get the hang of it.
Finding the Right Keywords for Your Website
December 9, 2008 by Herb B. Lewis · Leave a Comment
Search engines are a free way to get customers to your business. To have this happen you have to pick carefully chosen keywords and phrases. The right keywords are like free yellow page ads. Work with good ones and a flood of targeted traffic will visit your site. If you do not pick with care, you will waste your time, so you need to do it right.
First gather and evaluate possible keywords and phrases. You may already have an idea of words, start with this and follow a few simple steps so you can find some easy traffic.
Think like your customers; write a short list of potential search words and phrases you would search to find your site. When you get a small list go to the Google Adwords Keyword Tool and enter one of your keywords. Google will generate related keywords and an estimate of their search volume. This should give you a good list. Spend some time; try different words and different combinations of keyword phrases.
Popularity does not necessary make a keyword a good choice. It needs to be specific to what your company sells. The more specific your keyword is, the more likely it is buyers will find your site. Build up a good size list and then narrow it down to words and phrases that will direct the highest number of buying visitors to your web site.
As an example, the keyword “food” is a very popular, but your company sells bread. Millions of people searched Google for the word “food” last month and there was hundreds of thousands of web sites trying to outdo each other for that word. “Olive bread” will not get near as many Google searches, but it will not have near the number of sites competing for that phrase. You still may have over 10,000 people a month searching Google for “olive bread”.
It will take you a great amount of effort to get to the top of the first page of Google results for the word “food” and you may not be able to do it at all. Getting to the top for “food ” will get you thousands of people interested in buying everything from tomatoes to potatoes. Getting to the top of the list for “olive bread” will get you people looking for olive bread.
Brand names often make great keywords. Many brand names get over a thousand searches a month and do not have much competition.
You want people to find you who are ready to make a purchase; this requires playing around until you find the most specific and directly targeted phrases to bring the most interested buyers to you site. This requires putting yourself inside the mind of your soon to be customers to figure out what word or phrase a person looking for your product will use to search for you.
Your work is not done once you have chosen your keywords and added them to your web pages. You must continue to evaluate and test keywords to achieve search engine success.
Rule No 1: Invest in Yourself
December 7, 2008 by Ian Pelham · Leave a Comment
There is one rule in the Internet marketing arena that you must never over look and that one rule is; “INVEST IN YOURSELF”!
The chances are very good that you will have heard this saying repeated over and over again and yet you probably still don’t have the first clue what this means. Let me explain.
An internet business isn’t a building. It isn’t a place…not a real physical place. An internet business exists only in cyber space and in the heart and mind of the owner of that internet business.
Essentially, your internet business consists of just one major component. YOU. You are your internet business.
If you had a real world business you could make improvements to the building or to the landscaping and people would see that improvements had been made and be drawn in to see what kind of improvements had been made in the merchandise that was being offered.
But with an internet business there is no physical building that can be improved. The only improvements that you can make are to yourself. That is what ‘Invest in Yourself’ means. You have to improve yourself in order to improve your internet business.
Commonly people ask, “How and what do I invest in myself?” The answer isn’t a $150 haircut or a designer suit. The answer is knowledge. You need to know more. The more you know, the better quality decisions you will make, which your online business will benefit from.
Try spending just one hour a day reading articles or subscribe to an ezine that emails you information regularly about both your industry and also online marketing methods, and you will have invested a significant amount of time in yourself.
You can do many things like listen to teleseminars and webinars or enrol in courses. Investing in yourself is taking the time to involve yourself in the process of gaining knowledge. This is Rule No.1 in marketing online.
Following on from investing in yourself is the principle of “Abundance Thinking”.
What in the world is ‘Abundance Thinking’, you might ask? Well, there are really two ways to look at the world of internet marketing. One way is that that there is only so much business out there and I should get what is mine without regard for anybody else. I call this ‘Limited-supply Thinking’.
This type of thinking might allow you to make a reasonable income, but it doesn’t allow you to maximize your income. It is the opposite of Abundance Thinking.
‘Abundance Thinking’ believes that there is a more than enough business to go around and that we will do best by working with others to provide customers with the best possible experience. Customers aren’t stupid, they know that when you advise them to buy something from someone else it costs you a sale. This very fact that you value their welfare over you making a sale earns you trust, which can reward you with more sales from them over the longer term.
Abundance thinking is the belief that we are all stronger together than we are separately and that by helping one another we each become stronger individually. This principle when applied to internet marketing is usually the more productive of the two schools of thought.
Limited-supply thinking means that you hold on as tightly as you can to what you have. You do not share anything with anybody. What is yours is yours. Often time decisions are made by people who apply limited-supply thinking based upon what the competition is doing. Limited-supply thinking is basically a defensive position.
Abundance thinking is a proactive, offensive method. It concentrates on building good relationships with customers, suppliers, even competitors. It is the mark of a well adjusted, mature, competent and successful person.
Once you experience Abundance Thinking you will realize that there is plenty of business out there for everybody.
The beautiful thing about abundance thinking is that it is contagious. The better you get at abundance thinking the more accepting of you your peers will become.
Abundance Thinkers experience more success than Limited Supply thinkers, especially in the realm of joint ventures.
