8 Tips for Successful Internet Marketing

April 2, 2008

Internet Marketing has become very popular very quickly so the market is saturated with Internet marketers. To stay ahead of the competition, here are 8 tips for successful Internet marketing.

Stay on Top of the Search Engines

Having your site in the top 10 results of the search engines will keep you competitive in Internet marketing. It does take work and research to get there. Keywords and back links to your site are an important factor in remaining at the top. Use relevant keywords and gain back links to your site to dominate the search engines.

PPC Advertising

Pay-per-click advertising is a great way to make money in Internet marketing. Keywords and relevancy are the important factors here. Make sure you read up on PPC and become familiar with it before spending your money here. It’s easy to make money with PPC but it’s also easy to lose it if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Offer Something for Nothing

Everyone likes FREE stuff. It doesn’t cost a lot of money to offer something free for your customers. You can provide a free newsletter or even an ebook. At the same time, you can capture their email address for future sales.

Have a Good Looking Site

You don’t need a lot to have a great looking site. Adding too much to your site and making it “too busy” can turn potential customers away. Remember to always “keep it simple.” It’s always tempting to add all the latest, greatest graphics or video to your site but too much clutter is too much. As I always like to say, “less is more.”

Make Your Sales Page Easy to Find

There’s nothing worse than someone who does want to buy what you’re selling but not being able to find where to buy it. Don’t make your customers search your site for the buy link, make it easy to see. Always include someway for a customer to get a hold of you such as via email, phone, or fax.

Use Email Lists

Capture your site visitors’ email addresses as I mentioned earlier. The best way to do this is to offer a free newsletter or ebook via a subscription box. You will then eventually have a large list you can market to in the future.

Offer More Than Your Competition

You can’t give everything away but you can offer more than your competitor. A great example is my previous post on “Super SEO 2008.” My friend Cedric was offering the product for a measly $9.95. I found other sites with the same ebook for much higher prices. Offering a product for a much lower cost than your competitors will surely get you more sales.

Use Different Strategies

I sign up to different Internet Marketing newsletters to get the latest on different marketing strategies.
There are always new and better ways to market your business and reading the latest newsletters will help you stay ahead of your competition. The Internet is always changing and keeping up with the latest will help you sell more and make more money also.
