The Correct Way To Recruit Affiliates
November 10, 2008
So you’re interested in getting affiliates and you’d like to know how to recruit them. One of the best ways to attract them is by having your affiliate program listed on as many affiliate directories as possible. You don’t have to pay anything to have your program listed on these directories. However, you do have to meet certain guidelines.
Currently there are about 40 or so directories where you can post your affiliate program, in your attempt to locate those affiliates that’ll promote your opportunity. Also, be sure your program is posted under the correct category for your program.
Directories
Once you decide to list your affiliate program with the directories, if it has anything to do with gambling or adult content in any way, shape or form; it’ll most likely get rejected. Therefore it wouldn’t be a wise investment of your time and effort, in an attempt to get listed with them.
And as far as commissions are concerned, most directories frown upon affiliate programs that have a multi-level pay structure. Now let’s move on to the next area of consideration for listing your program.
Getting Listed Tips
Once you’ve requested to be listed by the directories, your request will be reviewed by the editors of each directory, so be sure you’ve met all the requirements for acceptance. Here are a few tips to keep in mind to make sure this process goes as smoothly as possible. The last thing you want to have happen, is for all your efforts to be in vain.
Make sure your affiliate program is prepared and ready to go, and that your sign on and sales pages are logged. Check for any spelling and/or grammatical errors, and that both your logo and banners are visible.
Your site should have an affiliate information page. This page should carry a brief description about your product or service. It should clearly state the terms and conditions of your program. Commission and payment terms should be clearly specified and it should have a link to your home page. This is the most crucial point of how to recruit affiliates.
The particular category you choose to post you affiliate program under is of paramount importance. Be sure you choose the category that’s most appropriate for your particular program. Otherwise, you’ll have a difficult time in your recruiting efforts.
Along with your request to have your program listed within the directories, you must also be prepared to submit your destination URL, your program description and commission structure. This information is of vital importance for acceptance.
Make sure you’ve chosen the correct keywords for your program.
Getting your program listed in the various affiliate directories, will indeed go a long way towards helping you to recruit more affiliates. However, getting your program listed under the most appropriate category for your particular program, will have you recruiting more affiliates than you can possible handle.
